The London's Alright bug, spreading faster than swine flu...

Promotion for London's Alright spreads faster than swine flu.

With the 2nd August fast approaching promotion of the event is starting to increase and teh word is spreading. The event can now be found on a new social network site called Leap Anywhere.

What is Leap Anywhere?
Leap Anywhere was set up to publicise the things that people do, that do good, and to make it easier by listing these in one place. It is also a social platform that enables you to share past, present and future Leap experiences with other users for free.

What is a Leap?
A Leap is pretty much anything that benefits a good cause. It can be something seemingly trivial, like attending a music gig where a proportion of the ticket price goes to charity or something requiring a significant commitment like volunteering in Africa.

What makes Leap Anywhere different?
Leap Anywhere is all about both having a good time and doing good. The events and activities on Leap Anywhere that benefit good causes are tailored to what people like: hanging out with friends, rock concerts, playing sports, eating and drinking, shopping, meeting new people and of course getting a a bit wild.

So check it out http://leapanywhere.com/leap/Londons-Alright and let us know what you think.

If anyone else knows or has a site that they want to promote the event on please drop me an email with details at londonsalright@gmail.com

Many thanks to Sandy and Alex,

Stu

HEADLINER CONFIRMED - Missing Andy

London's Alright 2009 Headliner - Missing Andy

I can officially announce the headliners for London's Alright 2009 are Missing Andy. Missing Andy have had various plays on Absolute radio and their music is a unique blend of self described Urban Indie punk that is guarenteed to end this years event on a high! They are not for the faint hearted and were described by 'Number one breaking band' by NME.
A recent EP review said:-
Missing Andy is, essentially, The Streets - but with even more talent!
'Night Train' is the first track on this EP and it defiantly starts things off on a high. Thankfully the standard doesn't drop.
I'm not an expert on this style and would never claim to be, but I have to say this artist is as honest as they come. He brings a raw, unpolished quality to the tracks in a very "Londoner" fashion.
'My London' is less of the rugged rapping style and steers down a different route offering a pop inspired melody and a relaxed setting. This is my favourite song on the EP, I could definitely see this track in the charts, which would give us a gradual introduction to this very talented artist.
All in all Andy is a rare find showing up all the has beens and emerging rappers. The manufactured rubbish that fills our charts would be stomped all over by this guy and I hope it's not too long before he steals their fame right out from under their perfectly pedicured feet!

Toby Sebastian

ARTIST CONFIRMED - Toby Sebastian

We're almost there....

With just over 2 weeks to go the line up nears completion and another is artist confirmed. I am pleased to welcome another newcomer to London's Alright, Toby Sebastian...

Hailing from Oxford and reaching the finals of T4s Orange Unsigned competition 2008 Toby has since left school and is currently in the process of writing music for his album.

Alex James of Blur had the following to say about his exit from the 2008 competition - "Last weekend, of the five bands left in the competition we watched the TV audience vote out a dazzling, talented and preposterously tasteful 16-year-old sex puppy..."

I've decided to finish with 6th form. I'm writing songs and material towards my album. I'm meeting some amazing people and learning loads. The best news is that I've got management now which is dandy.
It may seem like nothing much is going on here but I'm busy and it will be getting better so just give it time... I'll be up your way when I'm ready.

Welcome to London's Alright Toby...

Special Thanks

hi all,

With just under 3 weeks to go things are heating up in the final stages of the event, final line up should be released early next week. Ticket sales are starting to pick up and a real buzz about the event is being created!! Compliment this with a web viral and we should be cooking with gas!!

I would like to thank Jonathan Fren for his help in the upcoming web viral and for his sponsorship of the event. Check out his work at http://www.jonathanfren.com

I've been in business since I was 10, and left school at 14, going on to launch a number of businesses. Now alongside the several companies I am involved with permanently, I spend most of my spare time designing (portfolio here), consulting and travelling.
I enjoy working with cool people on gnarly projects, while my specialized web and software development firms continue to cater to our more traditional government and larger corporate clients.

ARTIST CONFIRMED - Nadeem Leigh

I can proudly announce another act will be taking to the London's Alright stage for the 2009 event. Introducing Nadeem Leigh. This will be his first time playing the event and i heard him busking in Greenwich. His sound was terrific and i could not help but stop and listen to his cover of "Aint no Sunshine". Without hesitation he went straight into an original track "this is nothing" I was sold!!
I am sure you will agree he is a worthy addition to this years line up...

About Nadeem Leigh

Nadeem showed a passionate interest in music pretty soon after his birth. At 21 months when asked ‘what does Bob Marley say?’ he would reply ‘Woy oy yoy yoy’! At 15 his high school rock band ‘Amethyst’ played in Vienna as part of the International School Music Event. Now as a mature artist his music is a combination of Blues based Rock with elements of Indie, Reggae and Soul and is influenced by artists with a message and a groove from Bob Marley to Paul Weller, Pearl Jam to Kings of Leon and from Bill Withers to Parliament Funk.
He has played to over 7,000 people at the ‘Rhythms of the World’ concert and this year received a rapturous response from over 1,000 after his performance at the SE1 Club with highly acclaimed cellist/vocalist Ayanna Witter-Johnson.
Nadeem will be performing some of his original compositions as part of the Crisis series of Hidden Gigs on Tuesday June 2nd 2009.

You can listen to his music at http://www.myspace.com/nadeemleigh
Welcome Nadeem...

Web viral Shoot day

Sunday 5th July 2009 - Web viral day.

Bright eyed and bushy tailed we started filming at 8am in Greenwich park before embarking on a 12 hour journey walking through London. We filmed at several locations, i dont think we missed a major landmark. It was a great day out and everything ran to plan.

A huge thank you has to go to all involved, especially to Will Nash (Director), Jimmy Nash (Gary Johnson) and James Houston for their continued help and direction at every location. in addition to that the work and professionalism of the extras recruited from Star Now and personal friends made what should be a great video.

The final product is currently being edited and should be ready for launch to the world in the next week, so watch this space...

Even if the viral doesn't prove to be a huge success we made it on a very tight budget and truly discovered what an amazing city London is definitely ALRIGHT!!
